"How surely gravity’s law,
strong as an ocean current,
takes hold of even the smallest thing
and pulls it toward the heart of the world.
each stone, blossom, child--
is held in place.
Only we, in our arrogance,
push out beyond what we each belong to
for some empty freedom.
If we surrendered
to earth’s intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.
Instead we entangle ourselves
in knots of our own making
and struggle, lonely and confused.
So, like children, we begin again
to learn from the things,
because they are in God’s heart;
they have never left [God].
This is what the things can teach us:
patiently to trust our heaviness.
Even a bird has to do that
before he can fly."
—Rainer Maria Rilke
Oct 10th - Aliveness, Creativity & Exuberance
Oct 24th - Spirit of Adventure - Expanding beyond old limits
Nov 7th - Strength, Courage & Action
Book all three workshops for £60.
Individual workshops £22, Concession £15.
Each workshop will include a 30 minute meditation guided by Stephen, bookended by a more active yoga practice with a special focus on the theme of Vitality. At the beginning and end of the session there will be time for sharing, discussion and questions on our theme.
I'm particularly looking forward to this theme as the yoga in this workshop will be more dynamic than in most of my classes!
This workshop is for you is you would like to explore how it feels to be naturally energised and ready for committed action! We will use carefully selected yoga poses and sequences to promote an embodied sense of full-blooded aliveness, strength, fearlessness and capability. How does it feel to allow ourselves to expand beyond old limits? Can we give ourselves permission to explore new ways of being, new perspectives and new horizons with a visceral zest for life itself? This aspect of Presence also helps us to stand up for ourselves, supporting us in maintaining healthy boundaries and finding the courage to fight for what we believe in. Think Warrior Pose, the Bhagavad Gita and the yogic concept of Tapas - inner fire & natural discipline.
This aspect of Presence is often associated with the colour red.
